These pictures are from the house (now a museum) of the Swedish writer Selma Lagerlöf (1858-1940). She was awarded the Nobel prize for literature in 1909.
Her most famous work is the book about Nils Holgersson; actually it was meant as a schoolbook for Swedish children, to learn the geography of their country, written on the request of a group of teachers. The book became a huge worldwide success, with translations in more then 30 languages.
In Selma Lagerlöf’s private library, there is a map of Sweden; the bronze (?) sculpture above it shows little Nils on the back of a goose.
