Braille Map of Florence #FOSS4G

Nick Bearman is out and about in Florence and spotted this braille map of the city.

It is near the Pitti Palace and shows the area from 1914 I think. The area is south of the river (north is down, as per the north arrow)

It reminds me of an early effort to produce braille maps that was demonstrated at State of the Map in 2009 or 2010 which used heat formed plastic. This one is cast in bronze to withstand the elements, I guess nowadays they could be produced using a 3D printer.
