Mappery For the love of maps

Plaza Ecuador

Sergio Acosta y Lara sent us this pic of the Plaza Ecuador in Montevideo.

“At the intersection of Av San Marino, City of Paris, Palmas and Ombúes, Lucerne and Brenda streets is Plaza Ecuador (formerly called Plaza San Marino). The peculiarity of this square is that seen from the sky we can see the shape of South America. Since Google launched google maps we no longer need to climb a tree to be able to see the shape from above and although “someone” decided to plant trees by covering the shape from the sky, it can still be seen.”
