Mappery For the love of maps

Vermeer’s Map

Until recently I knew very little about Vermeer, we went to a short talk about one of his paintings and the guide pointed out that in most of his portraits there is a picture and that was because as well as an artist he was an art dealer and he used his stock to dress his settings. I wonder if he owned this magnificent map?

This pic came from Reinder

“This painting belongs to Frick Collection in New York. Now, for the first time in more than 100 years, one can admire it in The Hague – for a few weeks only. https://www.mauritshuis.nl/en/what-s-on/exhibitions/manhattan-masters/
